Bergmann was born in Berlin in 1984. He has been studying at the Hanns Eisler University of Music and at the Berlin University of the Arts. Since 2009, as a member of the alto saxophone quartet Fo [u] r Alto (with Frank Gratkowski, Leonard Huhn and Christian Weidner), he has been working intensively on expanded and microtonal playing techniques on the saxophone. Together with the alto saxophonist Piere Borel and the drummer and accordionist Hannes Lingens, he founded the Berlin section of the international Umlaut collective and organized the International Umlaut Festival Berlin from 2009 to 2014. In 2012 he founded the trio Transmitter for contemporary music together with the violinist and composer Benedikt Bindewald and the pianist Alba Gentili-Tedeschi. As a (bass) clarinetist and saxophonist, Bergmann played in various ensembles at the Festival D’Automne à Paris, Grec Festival Barcelona, Munich Biennale, Musiktheatertage Wien, World Forum on Music Los Angeles, Unheard Music Berlin, Philharmonie and Konzerthaus Berlin, Multiphonics Festival Cologne, TFF Rudolstadt, De Nachten Antwerp, and also gave concerts in Brazil, Taiwan and Singapore. In 2020 he was co-composer and instrumentator for the production “Dunkel ist die Nacht, Rigoletto!” By the Bielefelder Philharmoniker at the Bielefeld Theater.
