Hamann is a cellist and performer / composer from Naarm / Birraranga (Melbourne).
She has been studying music with a focus on contemporary cello performance at the University of California San Diego with Charles Curtis and Séverine Ballon, among others. She has been performing together with numerous artists and ensembles, including the Australian Art Orchestra, Oren Ambarchi, ELISION ensemble, Sarah Hennies, Alvin Lucier, The Necks, Áine O’Dwyer, Stephen O’Malley, Eliane Radigue, Wadada Leo Smith, Ilan Volkov, Tashi Wada, La Monte Young and Marian Zazeela. She is a member of the Australian-American chamber ensemble Golden Fur, the experimental Harmonic Space Orchestra (founded in Berlin in 2020) and has duo projects with Rosalind Hall, Anthea Caddy and Lori Goldston. Hamann has been living in Berlin since July 2020. Her ongoing solo project “Shaking Studies” addresses the physical, audible and visible dimensions of the physical tremor.
