Ilyad

The quartet around the singer Pardis Zarghampour, with Yaser Bayat – Kamancheh, Borys Slowikowski – percussion and Fidan Aghayeva-Edler – piano, is dedicated to the songs of Lurs – an ethnic minority in the southwest of Iran. The songs are about love and longing, resistance, victims and heros. Luri songs are the epitome of oral history. They are rich in metaphors and express a special attachment to nature in the Lur provinces. The word Ilyad is a compound of Il – tribe that passes through Zagros and Yad – the memory of it.
