Iman Jesmi is a sound artist and composer. He was born in 1984 in the city of Mashhad, one of main religious cities of Iran where music is very restricted. He had his very first musical experiences at the age 6, playing santoor and tonbak. He graduated in classical Iranian music and Western music composition at Tehran University.
Currently he is studying new compositional techniques at the Hamburg Hochschule for Music and Theater. Jesmi is mainly concerned with everyday sounds that the citizens of contemporary human settlements might pass by indifferent. This concept led to a musical project in which he composed musical pieces that present such sounds as non-instrumental, or hyper-realistic music. Klangteppich V invites Jesmi for the project „Loom“.
